3D Spikes Tutorial:
Hi guys........ this is my first tutorial..... it was kinda accidental. I was just fiddling around with some photoshop filters when I came up with this effect......... I'm really not good at making tut's....... so I think this is the first and maybe the last.

1. Well to start with..... make a new file in photoshop around 800x800 px

2.Fill it with black colour.

3. Next make a new layer above the background. Now select the circular marquee tool and make a selection.

4. Now choose the gradient tool and select radial gradient. choose the spectrum gradient as shown below.

5. Apply the gradient to the circular selection.

6. Now deselect it and then merge the layer into the background ( Ctrl+E ).

7. Now to make the spikes........ Just go to filter menu an select filter>stylize>extrude and make following settings

for thinner spikes........ just reduce the size to something less than 20........ the lesser the size of the pixels the thinner the spikes.

try experimenting with the depth.......... I prefer maximum though.

This is what u get........

8. Now run the same filter ( Ctrl+F) a few times more........ I used it twice.

9. Now just make another layer on top of it and change the blending mode to colour. then fill it with whatever colour u like.

I used blue 'cause it's my favourite.

this is what u get.

That's it......... u got 3D Spikes....... now use ur imagination and modify it the way u want. Use it for ur own designs.
